Trauma Care International Foundation Facilitates a Three-Day Training for Teachers in Lagos State Public Primary and Secondary Schools
Lagos, Nigeria – September 6, 2024

– In a concerted effort to empower teachers with essential knowledge and skills, Trauma Care International Foundation (TCIF) facilitated a three-day training event for educators in Lagos State's public primary and secondary schools. The training took place on September 2nd, 4th, and 5th, 2024, at the Lagos State Chambers of Commerce and Industry Building, Ikeja.

This vital initiative aimed to equip teachers with tools to address pressing issues affecting students and the broader school environment. With topics ranging from bullying, domestic and sexual violence, child rights law, online safety, and basic first aid and CPR skills, the event was a transformative experience for attendees. It was organized in collaboration with key stakeholders, including the Lagos State Ministry of Health, Domestic and Sexual Violence Agency (DSVA), and the Ministry of Youth and Social Development.

Key highlights of the program included:
- Bullying Prevention and Response led by Trauma Care International Foundation

- Domestic and Sexual Violence Awareness delivered by DSVA representatives

- Child’s Right Law Education by the Ministry of Youth and Social Development

- Basic First Aid and CPR Training, which includes practical life-saving skills demonstrations by trainers from Trauma Care International Foundation

Additionally, the program emphasized safety and covered vital health topics in school settings. Attendees were also equipped with strategies for fostering a safer school environment and mental health awareness sessions, recognizing the growing need for mental wellness among students and teachers alike.

"Teachers play a crucial role in shaping the lives of young people, and this training seeks to provide them with the tools they need to protect and support their students," said the Senior Program Manager of Trauma Care International Foundation. "We are proud to have facilitated this program and to partner with agencies that share our commitment to creating safer and healthier schools."

The event drew over 350 educators from the six education districts in Lagos State. By providing a comprehensive program covering both safety education, CPR and first aid, TCIF continues to demonstrate its dedication to ensuring the well-being of students and fostering a culture of safety in schools across Nigeria.
