Trauma Care International Foundation (TCIF), in collaboration with the Lagos State Blood Transfusion Service (LSBTS), organized a special blood drive to honour and empower women. The event, themed "Accelerate Action", brought together a diverse group of volunteers and donors who gave the gift of life in celebration of the incredible strength and resilience of women, a Celebration of Life and Giving held on March 8th, 2025.
The blood drive was more than just a medical initiative; it was a powerful statement of love, solidarity, and community impact. Men and women from all walks of life showed up, eager to contribute to a cause that saves lives.
Among them were individuals who chose to celebrate their March birthdays in a truly selfless way by donating blood and giving others a second chance at life. Why This Blood Drive Mattered: Blood donation remains a critical need in Nigeria and the world, especially for maternal health. Women experiencing complications during childbirth often require urgent transfusions, yet the nation faces a persistent shortage of safe blood supply. By organizing this drive, TCIF and LSBTS took a bold step toward bridging this gap, accelerating action toward a healthier and safer society.
The event was not just about donating blood; it was a gathering of hope, filled with inspiring stories, heartfelt gratitude, and a renewed commitment to saving lives. Every pint of blood collected will go toward patients in need, including accident victims, surgical patients, and mothers facing childbirth complications. As we continue to celebrate the achievements of women worldwide, this blood drive serves as a reminder that true empowerment comes from action.
One donation can save up to three lives, and through this initiative, many lives have been touched. Join the Movement! The call to accelerate action doesn’t end with International Women’s Day. You, too, can be a lifesaver! If you missed this event, you can still be a part of the mission by donating blood at any designated blood bank or joining TCIF’s upcoming blood drives. Give Blood. Save Lives. Make a Difference.
